Terms of Use
Effective October 21, 2026
These terms cover your use of inua, the desktop shell and its apps (including inua Mail), and of this website, inua.one. By installing or using inua, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use inua.
The software and its license
inua is free, open-source software, developed by Lyric and its contributors at github.com/lyricat/inua. It is licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0. The license gives you the right to use, copy, change and share inua; where these terms and the license differ on the use of the code, the license applies.
inua is free of charge. There is no account to create with us, and nothing to pay.
Services you connect
inua works with services run by others, which you choose and connect yourself: mail providers such as Google and Microsoft, AI providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google, and services such as Tailscale. When you use them through inua:
- Your use of each service is governed by your own agreement with its provider, including their terms, policies and limits. For a Google account, that includes the Google Terms of Service.
- You are responsible for the accounts, passwords and API keys you enter, and for any cost a provider charges you, such as an AI provider’s charges for the requests you make.
- inua is not made, endorsed or supported by these providers, and we are not responsible for their services, their availability or what they do with the data you send them.
How inua handles your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
Using inua Mail
inua Mail acts on your mail only as you tell it to: it sends the messages you write, and archives, deletes or moves the messages you choose. Messages you delete may be removed from your provider’s servers. Keep backups of mail you cannot afford to lose.
You agree not to use inua Mail to send spam or unsolicited bulk mail, to break the law, to infringe others’ rights, or to get around the limits and rules of your mail provider.
AI features
Summaries, suggested replies, drafts and other assistant features are produced by the AI service you set up, and can be wrong or incomplete. Read what they write before you rely on it or send it. A phishing check is a second opinion, not a guarantee that a message is safe.
No warranty
inua is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties or conditions of any kind, express or implied, including those of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, as set out in the Apache License 2.0. We do not promise that inua will be free of errors, work without interruption, or keep your data from being lost.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the inua project, its developers and its contributors are not liable for any damages arising from your use of inua or this website, or from being unable to use them, including lost data, lost mail or lost profits, even if told such damages were possible. Some places do not allow these limits; there, they apply as far as the law allows.
Names and logos
The name inua and its logo identify this project. You may use them to refer to inua, but not in a way that suggests that the project made or endorses something it did not. Other names and logos, such as Gmail and Google, belong to their owners.
This website
The website describes inua and is provided for information. You may link to it freely. Its text and pictures may change at any time.
Changes
We may change these terms. The new version will be published on this page with a new date, and the history of every change is kept in the project’s repository. Continuing to use inua after a change means you accept the new terms.
